Title: "The Loop"
Author: Nicholas Evans
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Published: 1998
Pages: 434 (medium size text)
Summary: A pack of wolves makes a sudden savage return to the Rocky Mountain ranching town of Hope, Montana, where a century earlier they were slaughtered by the thousands. Now shielded by law as an endangered species, they reawaken an ancient hatred that will tear a family, and ultimately the town, apart.
At the center of the strom is Helen Ross, a twenty-nine-year-old wolf biologist sent alone into this remote and hostile place to protect the wolves from those who seek to destroy them. "The Loop" charts her struggle, and her dangerous love affair with the son of her most powerful opponent, the brutal and charismatic rancher, Buck Calder.
A haunting exploration of man's conflict with nature and the wild within himself, an epic story of deadly passions and redemptive love set against the grandeur of the American West, "The Loop" is destined to capture the hearts and imaginations of readers everywhere.
My thoughts and feelings:
WOW. I loved this book very much. I never let go of it from the begining. This story being about wolves, I couldn't resist but to read it. About halfway into it, I suddenly realized somthing: I loved this book!
Anyway, to all who love wolves, I got to warn you: several wolves are killed in this story, and, even though it is fiction, I still got very pissed at some of the characters in the book for their hatred towards wolves. I would have gladly severed their balls off with a rusty pair of nair clippers, gladly!
I, honest to God, actually threw this book at the wall and refused to read anymore because off some of the things said and done towards wolves in the story.
But! (after painstakingly picking it back up and continuing to read) It was one of the greatest books I have ever read, and now holds the great, rare honor of "my favorite book" award.
If you have the passion for wolves (or if you like a good book) I --STRONGLY-- suggest checking this one out. Nicholas Evans is a very prestigious author: most of his books (like the "Horse Whisperer" for one) are in many libraries, I'm quite positive your school library or public library will carry "The Loop". This story contains great humor, a fervent look on love between unlikly people, and a unique way of expressing the importance of nature and the henius crime of trying to destroy it.

Even if it's only the handful of people I happen to meet on the street or in my home, I can still protect them with one sword.
If you're begging for your life why don't you ask your money to save you!
If something is in the way, get rid of it!
